Caitlin turns 7!

So last month was Caitlin's 7th birthday. The first big celebration was our annual Rainforest Cafe visit, complete with Volcano dessert. Sadly I forgot to take a photo this year! But it was such a disappointment that I'm not sure we'll return next year. But we did get a photo of Caitlin's newly pierced ears. She is now officially grown up, at least it feels that way. I was very nervous about letting go of her being a little girl but it hasn't really changed her like I thought it would!

The second celebration of course was the bowling party. The party was held during 'cosmic bowling' so it was quite difficult to take photos, but I managed to get a few. The party host was incredible, I was so surprised! The party itself was quite successful although very stressful too. Trying to keep 17 7 year olds organised isn't as easy as you might think!

Snow day! Times two!

Up here in the sticks it's virtually unheard of to have two snow days in a row so it's certainly worth posting about!

The worst of the blizzard happened overnight, which meant it was quite noisy so I didn't sleep too well. I could hear the wind blowing at the back patio doors and I did fear they might actually blow open a few times but it seemed like they were fine. So I was quite surprised to discover a little snow pile on the inside of the doors about halfway through the morning!

The snow wasn't too deep but once the snow removal guys started moving it the piles got pretty huge. Caitlin was loving playing out in it!

I'm pretty sure school will be open on Friday, since they so rarely close here. A good job too because it's way too cold for them to play outside and we all know how boring staying at home all day is!

4 month post-op checkup went well!

This week I met with Kyle's neurosurgeon to discuss the results from the followup MRI we had done just before Christmas and the tests we had done a couple of weeks before, and with the exception of the bladder test that he hasn't gotten back yet, everything looks great!

I still don't know what's going on with the urologist, she hasn't called me and as she hadn't passed the results on to the neurosurgeon he couldn't help either. But he was surprised since everything else looked good, so we'll have to see what the renal ultrasound shows.

He also had a card for us, from the family we shared a room with when Kyle had his surgery! It was such a nice surprise, and they left photos for us too. We will definitely be keeping in touch which is really nice, it's also good to see how each of the kids are doing as a comparison because they were the same age and size and had the same procedure.

In other news we are busy planning Kiki's birthday party, which she decided she wanted at the local bowling alley. It's quite an undertaking, I have new respect for the other parents that have invited us previously. The worst thing is they all seem to be coming!

H-appy New Year!

I'm writing this in between two of Kyle's fever induced crying fits tonight so I'll keep it short, but as we once again celebrated New Year's Eve with a spread of delicious Trader Joe's snacks and appetizers, it seems only apropriate to wish everyone a very h-appy new year!

Enjoy 2011 everyone (and please let it be less stressful and expensive than 2010!)!

Looking back at those photos I can hardly tell them apart, it's hilarious!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Ah yes, thanksgiving. A lot of people wonder why we as Brits celebrate thanksgiving. Well know we have an bona fide American in the family wonder no more!

My turkey is in the crock pot, and my dessert is made. All is good.

Now I just have to try and keep John from buying a house full of junk tomorrow...

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
